Overall Accountability

The Career & Technology Studies Technician assists and supervises students in the operation of a wood and/or metal shop. The Technician may be specialized in one of these shop disciplines.

 

Salary

$26.41 - $31.79 per hour (Category 10)  

$34.95 - $42.46 per hour (Category 14)  

 

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Assists and supervises students; ensures security for tools and lab; assists the teacher in ensuring that procedures related to safety and cleanliness are followed by students at all times
  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment and tools used in the program
  • Prepares work orders and billing records; orders parts and supplies, completes inventory and tracks usage
  • Completes work orders, checks for correct pricing on parts and liaises with the business office for deposit and collections
  • Supports other Career & Technology Studies areas

 

Qualifications

  • Category 10 – High School diploma and Completion of first year apprenticeship towards trades certification
  • Category 14 – Journeyman/Red Seal Certification
  • Experience and/or training in building construction/welding/machining or other related disciplines of a shop setting
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates
  • Knowledge of oxyacetylene welding, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, and woodworking equipment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
