Overall Accountability
Interpreters will provide accurate, professional and confidential interpretation services to facilitate clear communication between CCSD staff and limited and non-English speakers.
Specific Accountabilities
• Delivers interpretation services ensuring integrity, accuracy, and impartiality, in accordance with CCSD policies, practices, regulations and guidelines for interpreters.
• Works collaboratively with CCSD personnel in a variety of educational settings to support student learning and family engagement.
• Participates in required training and professional learning.
• Ensures current contact and payment information is maintained.
• Ensures time sheets are completed and submitted as per CCSD procedures and timelines.
• Maintains professionalism in all interactions with students, families and CCSD staff.
• Interpreter assignment of work is dependent on language needs and interpreter availability.
Qualifications
• High School diploma
• Successful completion of either CILIAST or ILISAT language proficiency Test
• Knowledge of the school system in Alberta preferred as Interpreters will work within the culture and guidelines of Calgary Catholic School District.

Current language needs include: Tigrigna, Amharic, Dinka, Nuer, and Somali. Candidates fluent in one or more of these languages are strongly encouraged to apply.
St. John’s Centre offers the CILISAT (Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool) testing for applicants who require certification. Please note that there is a cost associated with the test, which is the responsibility of the applicant. Additional information can be provided upon request.
