Overall Accountability

 

The Facility Specialist is responsible for the planning, scheduling and implementation for all facilities, including construction, the ongoing preventative maintenance and operations program to ensure buildings are constructed and operated in the most cost-effective manner.

 

 

 

Specific Accountabilities

 

• Manages new and existing facility projects and programs.

• Forecasts annual work and participates in preparing annual budget; prepares progress, variance, and other reports.

• Expends funding to obtain services and/or products as required.

• Analyzes and recommends improvements to procedures and equipment; implements preventative and breakdown maintenance measures and procedures.

• Selects, trains, directs, and assigns work to personnel, monitors employee time and attendance

reports, performance, discipline, and safety training.

• Provides direction and supervision to contractors ensuring contract compliance.

• Coordinates work with other physical plant departments and helps resolve problems.

• Oversees fleet maintenance, operations, and recommendation for replacement.

• Collaborates with the installation of creative playgrounds.

• Creates and assigns work through Maximo.

• Participates in the rotation of on-call duties.

 

Qualifications

 

• Diploma in a related field

• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience of demonstrated and responsible involvement with building, playgrounds and operations and maintenance

• Valid Alberta or Red Seal Journeyman certification in one or more building trades or a Professional designation

• Valid Alberta Driver’s License and a vehicle in good operating condition

• Comprehensive knowledge of automated building control systems, building codes and air quality standards

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and maintenance management software applications
