Overall Accountability

 

The Manager of Student Systems is responsible for overseeing the implementation, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all student-related technology systems within our K-12 school district. This includes the Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System (LMS), Student Records, and other related platforms. The Manager leads a team of approximately fifteen (15) to twenty (20) staff members who provide application and technical support, training, and data management services to division administrators, educators, students, parents and the Alberta Government.

 

Specific Accountabilities

 

Supervise and mentor a team of analysts, specialists, and support staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.

• Collaborate with district leadership, school administrators, and IT teams to enhance system capabilities.

• Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and security of the Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System (LMS), PASI, and student record platforms.

• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with all Federal and Provincial privacy legislation, and Division Administrative Procedures.

• Manage system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations to support division needs.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for district leaders, Alberta Education, school staff, and families regarding student systems.

• Ensure proper security protocols and access controls are in place to protect student data.

• Other duties as required

 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, education technology, business administration, or a related field.

5 years of leadership experience, including managing teams of IT professionals or educational technology specialists.

Expertise in SIS, LMS, and student data management platforms (e.g.,PowerSchool, Brightspace, etc.).

Strong understanding of data privacy laws, Alberta reporting requirements, and best practices in educational technology.

Excellent problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse technical and non-technical shareholders.

Experience with data analytics, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
