Salary

42.24 – 46.61 per hour (Category III)

60.11 – 78.98 per hour (Category IV)

 

Overall Accountability

 

The Registered Psychologist is responsible for the provision of psychological intervention, assessment, and consultation for students with a variety of developmental and medical conditions that are impacting their educational and behavioural functioning. In addition to developing and implementing programming strategies, primary duties include screening, identifying, assessing, diagnosing, and providing intervention for students with developmental and neurodevelopmental conditions.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Provides consultation and intervention services to students
  • Determines eligibility for specialized programming, recommending programming strategies and/or placements
  • Provides reports and documentation of psychological services
  • Provides interpretation, consultation and feedback regarding psychological opinions to parents and District personnel
  • Assists District personnel with conceptualizing and implementing strategies for students with behavioural and learning difficulties resulting from developmental and neurodevelopmental concerns.
  • Liaises with external professionals/agencies to assist with integrated understanding and support of students
  • Accountable for the development and provision of quality assessment and intervention services to students and families
  • Works collaboratively with the Learning Services multidisciplinary team
  • Mentors the development of Provisional Psychologists or graduate students completing practicum in psychology.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Educational Psychology
  • Experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of developmental and neurodevelopmental disorders in children
  • Clinical experience working with children, adolescents and families
  • Experience supporting non-psychologists in the application of psychological interventions
  • Experience delivering professional development workshops to non-psychologist professionals
  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the assessment of autism, cognition, learning, and other developmental concerns.
  • Proven collaboration and team building skills
  • Registered professional status with the College of Alberta Psychologists
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License and a vehicle in good operating condition

 

Note: Travel is required between school locations
